The region between China and Indochina has long been disputed, and many wars have been fought between China and Indochina and India and Indochina, including the Third Indochina War which was a continuation of the Vietnamese War for independence against the French that began shortly after World War 2, in 1946. The region of Indochina is called as such because it is situated between India and China. The region is also home to the so called Golden Triangle, one of the heroin and opium production, consumption and smuggling hotspots in the world. It is estimated that around 80 tons of heroin are trafficked to China every year.
